Annie says working in the shearing sheds is hard, but she enjoys the fast pace and the challenge.

She lives in Bombala (Ngarigo Country) in South East NSW and shared her story of life away from the classroom on ABC Landline.

Our department is the major and foundational sponsor of ABC Heywire, helping to share the voices of more than 12,200 of young people living in regional Australia. Through this partnership, RDAs can connect with their regional winners to learn more about the issues and challenges impacting their lives and to help share their stories.

Now in its 25th year, this national competition provides winners the opportunity meet with Australian Government ministers, RDAs and key regional stakeholders on the things that matter for young people living in Australia’s regional, rural and remote communities.
