Australian Local Government Association (ALGA)
The Australian Local Government Association (ALGA) is the national voice of local government, representing 537 councils across the country.
The current President of ALGA is Gladstone Regional Council Mayor Matt Burnett (pictured). He was elected at the ALGA Annual General Meeting on Friday 27 September 2024.
Our department collaborates with ALGA and their National General Assembly, Australian Council of Local Government and National Local Government Awards (NALA).
Through this arrangement and by direct engagement, RDA committees also play an important role in working across all 3 levels of government to develop locally-led solutions that help create opportunity for Australia's regions.
