Three RDAs — Adelaide Hills, Gold Coast, and Mid West & Gascoyne—have been named finalists in the 2024 National Economic Development Awards for Excellence . Congratulations to these RDAs for being recognised for driving sustainable growth and prosperity in their regions.
The RDAs were nominated for these National Economic Development Awards categories:
- Economic Development Strategic Thinking: RDA Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu & Kangaroo Island (SA)
- Economic Development Sustainable Initiatives and Energy Transition: RDA Gold Coast (Qld)
- Economic Development Initiatives - Regions Under 15,000 Residents sponsored by SEGRA[1]: RDA Mid West & Gascoyne (WA).
This is the third year RDA Adelaide Hills been named a finalist, highlighting the organisation’s on-going commitment to innovative solutions for regional challenges. This nomination is for leadership in addressing Kangaroo Island’s critical housing shortage following the 2020 Black Summer Bushfires.
The Parndana Housing Development Project was born from a pressing need to support industry growth and community rebuilding on the island. Lack of housing is a major hurdle to the region’s ongoing economic recovery. The RDA played a pivotal role in bringing together stakeholders to delivery new housing solutions that met the needs of both community and industry.
Director of Regional Development for RDA Adelaide Hills Steve Shotton said, “Being recognised as finalists for this award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our team and partners.
“RDA AHFKI’s role in this ground-breaking project was to lead with vision, persistence, and a commitment to practical solutions. It demonstrates the value of strong leadership and local partnerships can create impactful change”.
