Investing in People - Commendation: RDA Ipswich and West Moreton (Qld)
Employment Multicultural Jobs Forum
RDA Ipswich and West Moreton (RDA IWM) organised the second annual Employment Multicultural Jobs Forum. This forum is undertaken in conjunction with the Springfield Regional Jobs Committee, a Queensland State Government-funded initiative.
The forum created an environment conducive to sustainable employment for individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. The event facilitated a safe and relaxed atmosphere where job seekers could meet with local employers. RDA IWM was meticulous in planning and coordinating the event, which was critical to its success. This involved strategic development to align the needs of job seekers and employers.
The support of the following bodies bolstered the event:
- The Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, who offered targeted assistance to First Nations candidates.
- The Multicultural Affairs Queensland Strategic Settlement Partnerships Team were pivotal in facilitating connections and actively supporting the event's execution.
The impact was significant, a total of 97 job seekers attended, engaging in interviews with 12 employers. Initial results indicated that 85 per cent of participants pursued further interactions with contacts or referrals obtained during the event. Employers provided overwhelmingly positive feedback, expressing gratitude for the efficient platform.
The forum produced several inspiring success stories and achieved its objectives of facilitating employment conversations for CALD job seekers. This helped educate local employers about the advantages of hiring from diverse backgrounds. The Employment Multicultural Jobs Forum exemplifies a committed effort to foster inclusivity in the workforce, bridging gaps between CALD job seekers and local employers.
