Investing in Industries and Local Economies - Special Commendation: RDA Eyre Peninsula (SA)

Eyre Peninsula Early Education and Care Study

The Eyre Peninsula Childcare Taskforce, led by RDA Eyre Peninsula, is responding to the pressing need for improved childcare services in the region. The Taskforce aims to enhance early education and care on the Eyre Peninsula to support parental workforce participation and local industries, and promote childhood development by:

  • Facilitating a coordinated approach to addressing childcare services on the Eyre Peninsula
  • Ensuring the region obtains sustained support from State and Australian Government investment in childcare services
  • Being a regional conduit for all levels of government in the development of childcare services.

RDA Eyre Peninsula anticipates that $28 billion in projected economic growth over the next four years will create nearly 30,000 jobs. Access to reliable early education and care is essential for attracting families, supporting workforce participation and promoting gender equity while benefiting the region's Indigenous communities.

The Taskforce appointed Centre for Early Learning Australia to create a comprehensive business case to advocate for additional investment in early childhood care and education. The final report helps government funding bodies, stakeholders, potential investors, and policy makers align regional needs and develop strategic priorities that meet the region’s future ambitions.

RDA Eyre Peninsula recognised the critical necessity of improving childcare services to attract and retain families amid significant investment and job creation. By prioritising early education and care, the Eyre Peninsula is setting a foundation for sustainable growth and inclusivity, ensuring a brighter future for all its residents.
