What skills/experience will be needed from future committee members to achieve this priority?

  • Strategic overview and understanding of issues and opportunities in priority growth industries particularly manufacturing, food processing, professional services and health sectors.
  • Business experience and understanding of factors relating to industry growth, business development, productivity and innovation.
  • Understanding of commercial investment realities and ability to contribute to development of investment attraction strategies
  • Experience and understanding of issues impacting on start-up businesses
  • Links to industry networks and connections to organisations that support business and industry
  • Relevant skills pertaining to industry, business and investment development
  • Understanding of significant contribution that reliable high speed broadband can make to business productivity and competitiveness

Priority 2: Transport and infrastructure for the future

What skills/experience will be needed from future committee members to achieve this priority?

  • Strategic overview and understanding of importance of prioritization and timely provision of hard and soft infrastructure to support a rapidly growing regional population
  • Strategic overview and understanding of local government issues in relation to economic and infrastructure planning
  • Strategic understanding of issues impacting on peri-urban development
  • Senior government experience at local, state or federal level in infrastructure and transport planning
  • Connection to networks that support infrastructure planning and economic development

Priority 3: Skills: Promoting education and developing human capital

What skills/experience will be needed from future committee members to achieve this priority?

  • Strategic overview and understanding of factors impacting on skills, employment, education and training
  • Strategic understanding of drivers that will shape skills and jobs and industries of the future
  • An understanding of regional disadvantage and its relationship to education and employment inequity
  • Strategic understanding of factors that restrict linkages between the education sector and industry
  • Senior experience in education, training or employment development
  • Skills and experience in workforce planning
  • Strategic understanding of skills required to grow the digital economy
