What skills/experience will be needed from future committee members to achieve this priority?

  • Skills and experience in regional and community development (particularly economic development)
  • A broad knowledge of economic development and the drivers for employment growth
  • Ability to negotiate strategic partnerships across multiple sectors that promote economic growth
  • A strategic understanding of the drivers of workforce development and how they relate to growing employment

Priority 2: Education and Skills: Supporting the Education, Research and Innovation Strength

What skills/experience will be needed from future committee members to achieve this priority?

  • A strategic overview and understanding of issues relating to employment, education and training.
  • Ability to negotiate partnerships that leverage the Melbourne East strength in education, research and innovation
  • A strategic knowledge of the drivers of innovation and innovative business practice
  • Experience in connecting research and business communities

Priority 3: Transport and Connectivity: Addressing Integrated Transport Needs

What skills/experience will be needed from future committee members to achieve this priority?

  • A strategic overview and understanding of integrated transport issues related to planning, transport, freight and ports and their relationship to economic development in outer metropolitan municipalities
  • A strategic overview and understanding of the responsibilities across the three tiers of government in relation to planning and infrastructure development
  • Senior government experience at the local, state or federal level related to planning, infrastructure, investment or economic development
  • Networks related to local, state or federal government or to planning, transport and freight, ports and their relationship to economic development
