Priority 1: Expand our food and fibre industry

What skills/experience will be needed from future committee members to achieve this priority?

  • Knowledge of production and distribution (especially meat, dairy, timber), economies of production, geographical and environmental constraints.
  • Business experience, preferably with links to international business / industry networks (particularly Asia).

Priority 2: Develop our digital economy

What skills/experience will be needed from future committee members to achieve this priority?

  • Knowledge of limitations and coverage in the region and an understanding of updated delivery of broadband services and options for regional areas.
  • Understanding the role of internet and digital technologies for business development and opening markets.

Priority 3: Improve our skills and education attainment

What skills/experience will be needed from future committee members to achieve this priority?

  • Experience in workforce development, innovation and education.
  • Understanding of regional workforce and skills needs to attract and retain talent and increase productivity.

Priority 4: Build our low emission energy generation capacity

What skills/experience will be needed from future committee members to achieve this priority?

  • An awareness of issues facing the development of the renewable sector.
  • Links to local industry supply networks.

Priority 5: Increase the value of tourism

What skills/experience will be needed from future committee members to achieve this priority?

  • Background and experience in tourism development.
  • Understanding of investment attraction principles in relation to infrastructure investment and attraction of private sector investment.

Priority 6: Increase and manage population growth

What skills/experience will be needed from future committee members to achieve this priority?

  • Understanding of the levers required to influence population growth and the infrastructure required to support it.
  • Understanding and ability to work with all levels of government.

Priority 7: Support investment in jobs for the future

What skills/experience will be needed from future committee members to achieve this priority?

  • Ability to identify projects that will benefit the region and the ability to attract partners.
  • Innovative mindset and entrepreneurial thinking.
  • Business experience.

  • Yes.

Which geographic areas require greater representation from future members?

  • Five representatives from each sub-region (G21 and Great South Coast)
