    RDA Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island is a unique region which is not supported by a large industry. Most employment is in service industries, agriculture and tourism and are casual or part‐time and often seasonal in nature. As a result apprentice and trainee positions have been consistently difficult to realise. There is high youth unemployment across the region with a lack of full-time employment.

    Following the disastrous fire at Thomas Foods International (TFI) in January 2018, RDA Murraylands and Riverland jumped in to help 1,400 displaced workers find new jobs and stay in the region with their Job Connections Service (JCS).  As well as job matching, help was offered on writing resumes and applications, and up to $2,000 per worker was available to help them reskill for new careers.
