RDA Moreton Bay—a finalist in the 2016 Economic Development Australia Awards for Excellence
21 October 2016
Regional Development Australia (RDA) Moreton Bay has been recognised as a finalist at the 2016 Economic Development Australia Awards for Excellence, for its innovation in business clustering and collaboration.
In September 2015, as a natural extension of its collaboration role, RDA Moreton Bay invested in the services of a Business Cluster Manager to stimulate, establish and facilitate cluster groups, focused on a common agenda of “collaborating to complete”. The pilot adopted a lean start-up philosophy of: engage early, fail fast and be agile; and the early stage results are very promising.
Cluster groups have been formed around:
Strawberry industry cluster: Strategic collaboration with the Queensland Strawberry Growers Association. The Flagship initiative, the Sweetest Job PR and recruitment campaign, was developed in response to the threat of a reduction in the number of overseas workers associated with the so called ‘backpacker tax’ proposal.
Narangba innovation precinct: Collaboration of 30–50 manufacturers and large industrial businesses.
Moreton Technology Alliance: Collaboration of 20–30 ICT & Digital businesses
Emerging Clusters & Alliances include: Food & Beverage Cluster; Chamber of Commerce and Business & Professional Women with 700+ business members; Export Cluster; and Circular Economy Cluster.
