04 August 2016
RDA Grampians (VIC) Chair, Stuart Benjamin, has welcomed the official launch of a new $450,000 research centre, located in Horsham and designed to support infrastructure projects across the region.
The Regional Incubator for Social and Economic Research (RISER) was announced in April 2016 and is a joint initiative of the Victorian Government, RDA Grampians, Federation University Australia, and the Wimmera Development Association.
“This exciting initiative will provide vital social and economic information about the Grampians region that will place it in the best possible position to determine its priorities,” said Victorian Minister for Regional Development, Hon Jaala Pulford.
“RISER will also involve the community with the research reaffirming our support for building stronger communities and a more collaborative approach to regional government.”
RISER will undertake social and economic research to support cases for regional economic infrastructure priorities. Federation University Australia PhD students will be mentored by local community and business representatives in order to facilitate RISER research goals.
