RDA Orana creating exciting opportunities in Korea and Australia

23 February 2016

RDA Orana is fostering positive bilateral relations with South Korea, welcoming both the arrival of their first participant in the Korean Trainee Project and the opportunity to send hospitality interns from the Orana region to work at a 5 star hotel in Seoul.

Mr Sangyool Yoon, a Korean citizen (pictured) recently commenced training and work at the Dubbo RSL Club.

“RDA Orana's Korean Trainee Project places partially skilled trainees in Australian workplaces to continue their occupational training. The project has several outcomes, including supporting economic development and realising the goals of the Free Trade Agreement,” said Ms Felicity Taylor-Edwards, CEO of RDA Orana.

“Trainees will spend at least 1–2 years here, and we hope that most will choose to stay on. It is rewarding to welcome Sangyool and to reach the first major milestone in our Korean Trainee Project, and we would like to thank the Dubbo RSL Club for their support.”

However, RDA Orana's projects aren't just about recruiting Koreans to train in Australia. RDA Orana is encouraging hospitality students and employees in the Orana to contact them about the opportunity to complete a six-month internship with the J W Marriott Hotel in Seoul, South Korea. Up to 20 internships are on offer.

“We are incredibly excited to offer this opportunity to the region. It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for any hospitality student or employee. Interns will participate in a 4 week Korean language course on arrival, followed by a 20 week language and culture program, while working in a world-class hotel,” said Ms Taylor-Edwards

“Due to RDA Orana's strong international partnerships and the opportunities under the FTA, interns will be offered discounted accommodation at Seoul's Sangmyung University. The Marriott will also offer students a subsidy. The first students will commence their internships later this year and I would encourage applicants to contact us as soon as possible to discuss further, to ensure they don't miss out.”

The internships are open to people 18–30 who are currently studying or working in hospitality. A qualification is preferred but not essential.

Orana residents interested in the internships should contact RDA Orana on (02) 6885 1488 before 31 March 2016.

More information on RDA Orana activities is available on the RDA Orana website.
