RDA Yorke and Mid North launches knowledge partnership with universities

Published: 4th September 2012

RDA Yorke and Mid North (South Australia) has begun a partnership with universities and local councils that aims to bridge the gap between the university sector, government agencies, non-government organisations, businesses and community groups in the Mid North.

The Mid North Knowledge Partnership was launched at the Unicorn Brewery Cellars Burra on 1 August 2012 and is a collaborative venture between RDA Yorke and Mid North, Flinders University, the University of South Australia, the Regional Council of Goyder, and the Clare and Gilbert Valley Council.

About 60 people attended the launch including researchers and educators along with business and community members.

Flinders University Rural and Remote Research Professor Dean Carson said the partnership aims to actively promote opportunities for research, knowledge transfer, student placements, international researchers and student exchange.

Flinders University Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Dean Forbes formally launched the partnership and said “a knowledge exchange is what we need, to be really engaged with the community.”

RDA Yorke and Mid North Executive Officer Kelly-Anne Saffin said the partnership complemented her vision for the region.

“The best regions have knowledge and invest in people,” Ms Saffin said.
