RDA members receive Queen’s Birthday honours

Current and former RDA committee members have received honours in the 2012 Queen’s Birthday list.
RDA Hunter (New South Wales) committee member Professor Nicholas Saunders has been awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to medicine and to higher education through administration and clinical leadership roles, and as a significant contributor to national academic and professional organisations.
RDA Far North Queensland and Torres Strait (Queensland) committee member Clive Skarott has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the General Division. Mr Skarott received the award for service to the community of Queensland through the development of infrastructure to facilitate expanding export and tourism access, the establishment of credit union services, and through a range of tourism, sporting and educational organisations. He has been the treasurer of RDA Far North Queensland and Torres Strait since 2011.
RDA Peel (Western Australia) committee member Denyse Needham received an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for service to the community through a range of charitable and environment organisations, and to local government.
Former Deputy Chair of RDA Western Melbourne (Victoria) Professor Elizabeth Harman was also made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to tertiary education administration, to the development of vocationally oriented and professional development courses, through governance reforms, and to the community. Professor Harman was Deputy Chair of RDA Western Melbourne from 2009-2010.
