RDA chair presents broadband support at CEDA
Published: 5th September 2012
RDA Central Coast (New South Wales) Chair Dave Abrahams will be a presenter at the Australian Digital Futures Committee for Economic Development (CEDA) conference on 10 September 2012. The event will be held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney.
The presentation is titled The Joys of Distance: How the death of a tyrant will reshape regional Australia.
“The presentation is about the significant economic opportunities that are opening up for regional communities in the rollout of the National Broadband Network (NBN) and the trade and services that will be facilitated through the infrastructure,” Mr Abrahams said.
“This will be explored through the eyes of three regional business women, each with their own plans to grow their businesses, markets and influence.
“The talk will point to how the fast growing digital economy will vastly change the way Australians view their region. No longer will many regions be seen as expensive far flung populations but a vast pool of innovative, motivated and talented people hungry to participate in the national economy,” Mr Abrahams said.
“The Central Coast of NSW is already benefiting from being involved in the NBN rollout. Several local businesses have received not inconsiderable contracts. Young people are being trained and a series of new facilities and services in telecommuting and eHealth are underway,” Mr Abrahams said.
“RDA Central Coast is focussed on leveraging the benefits of the NBN investment through a proactive local engagement plan. It has established a special working group, Central Coast Broadband Infrastructure Group to lead the plans and implementations,” Mr Abrahams said.
The conference will also feature insights from industry leaders on the advantages of the NBN.
Dave Abrahams is an online businessman, Chair of RDA Central Coast, Director of the NSW Telecommunications Authority and a Federal Broadband Champion through the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy.
