Published: 5th July 2012
RDA Northern Rivers (New South Wales) has co-funded an e-learning pilot to assist agribusinesses to connect with customers through social media.
Northern Rivers Food, a membership organisation for growers, producers, restaurants and retailers in the Northern Rivers, was awarded seed funding of $25 000 from the National VET e-learning strategy to run an online learning pilot for its members.
The project was co-funded by RDA Northern Rivers and ACE Community colleges who provided hosting for the online units and ensured that the course content was mapped to accredited industry training.
The course was created by social marketing and online consultants to give members the skills to confidently and effectively use the widest range of social media channels to promote their small businesses, engage new and potential customers, and retain existing customers through skilled communications using social media.
During the pilot, 15 businesses undertook modules on using social media (Facebook, twitter, YouTube and Pinterest) creating effective communications and integrating social media into their marketing strategies.
The course has received positive feedback from participants.
The project was made possible through co-investment from the Industry System Change Business Activity of the National VET E-learning Strategy. To find out more about the Northern Rivers Food e-learning pilot, visit the Flexible Learning website.
