Minister for Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government, The Hon Simon Crean MP recently addressed an event co organised by the Canberra Business Council (CBC) and RDA Australian Capital Territory (ACT) at the Hyatt Hotel in Canberra.

The CBC and RDA ACT invited Minister Crean to articulate a vision for the future of Canberra that extended beyond its core function as the centre of the Australian Government, given that he is both Regional Development and Territories Minister.

The Minister supports the notion that Canberra should effectively engage with the region to better support economic diversification and noted the strong engagement currently underway between RDA ACT, RDA Southern Inland and RDA Far South Coast.

The CBC and RDA ACT attracted a sold out business and regional audience of 120 people to the event with representatives from the Canberra business community, regional local governments, the ACT Government, the three RDAs and regional business owners.
