RDA Sunshine Coast (Queensland) is inviting community members from across Australia to join its Future of Food Southern Queensland Symposium on Wednesday 8 August 2012 via live webcast.

The symposium will be held at the University of the Sunshine Coast and will identify priorities for development and growth in the regional food industry.

The one-day event will provide an overview of:

  • the latest consumer preferences and behaviours research results
  • opportunities for enhanced value chain collaboration
  • improved aggregation and distribution systems, and
  • digital food traceability.

RDA Sunshine Coast Chair Professor Max Standage says the symposium aligns itself with the Australian Government’s National Food Plan and launch of the Green Paper in July 2012.

“The Australian Government’s national food plan will set the overarching policy direction, and when the three levels of government cooperate with industry in initiatives such as this event, it leads to positive outcomes for regions,” said Professor Standage.

The event is being held in partnership with the Queensland Government, Sunshine Coast Council, University of Sunshine Coast, Queensland Food and Beverage Industry, Seasons of the Sun, and Food Manufacturers Leaders Group.

The symposium will be live-streamed on Wednesday 8 August 2012 from 9am – 5pm AEST.
