RDA Wide Bay Burnett (Queensland) recently announced the appointment of Danielle Andreuzzi to the role of FIFO (fly in fly out) coordinator for the region.

“The FIFO coordinator role is exciting for our region and will primarily work with employers in the Bowen, Surat and Galilee Basin areas as well as Gladstone to connect job seekers with the right training pathways to prepare them for a future in the resource sector,” RDA Wide Bay Burnett Executive Officer Paul Massingham said.

“Danielle joins RDA Wide Bay Burnett with extensive regional marketing experience from her role as a marketing manager at Tourism Fraser Coast.

“We are excited to have someone of Danielle’s skills and regional knowledge. This will assist greatly in our ability to raise our profile as a key point of labour hire to the resource sector.”

As part of the RDA Wide Bay Burnett team, Danielle will assist in shaping the economic future of the region by working to bring in new aviation partnerships linking workers to resource areas and creating the demand for establishing direct FIFO flights.

“One of the key benefits to establishing direct flights to resource sector locations including northern routes to high density areas such as Mackay will be our ability to attract workers and their families to relocate to the Wide Bay Burnett,” Mr Massingham said.

The attraction of workers through the provision of direct flights is set to have a positive effect on local industries, especially in the areas of property and construction. Other businesses and schools will also be supported through increased spend.

“The Wide Bay Burnett region is well-equipped with all the necessities – health services, schools, retail and hospitality offerings, as well as having affordable housing options,” Mr Massingham said.

The FIFO Coordinator project is part of an Australian and state Government funded program designed to link job seekers in the Wide Bay Burnett region with resource companies in remote mining areas needing skilled workers. The two year project is a key outcome of the National Resource Sector Workforce Strategy, launched in 2011 by the Australian Government.
